Profile

Sajeel Ahmed serves as vice director, Joint Service Provider, Defense Information Systems Agency. Ahmed is responsible for the day-to-day information technology operations supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, Headquarters, Department of the Army, and all other Department of Defense Component offices within the National Capital Region. Ahmed oversees all daily IT operations and defenses, managing an infrastructure and portfolio valued over $1 billion. His staff of more than 2,500 personnel provide IT consolidation, savings, organizational and cyberspace security requirements as directed by the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Mr. Ahmed was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2004. Prior to his current position, Ahmed served as the acting director of the Administration and Organizational Policy Office of the Chief Management Officer. He also served as the senior management official, overseeing OSD/DoD Organizational Management/Policy and Senior Departmental Governance; acting director, Washington Headquarters Services; and director of WHS Facilities Services Directorate.

He began his service with the Pentagon as a systems engineer in 1993. During that time, he was responsible for leading the Pentagon renovation team. Immediately following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, Ahmed led engineering efforts which developed into two major programs to enhance the Pentagon's survivability and continuity postures: the Command Communications Survivability Program and the Defense Continuity Integrated Network/Pentagon Continuity Information System. He then spent more than a decade as the director of the WHS Facilities Services Directorate responsible for the operation, maintenance, and construction activities on the Pentagon Reservation.
