CAPT Shawn Roberts is a native of Orange, Texas. He is a 1993 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in History. Upon graduation he studied abroad at Tel Aviv University in Israel. He holds a Master’s of Science degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University and a Master’s of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in Washington D.C.

Originally a Surface Warfare Officer his first tour was onboard USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13) as the CIC Officer. His follow on tours were onboard the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) as the CMS/ISSM Officer and COMPHIBGRU TWO as the current operations officer. While at COMPHIBGRU TWO, he was selected for redesignation as a Navy Cryptologist and assigned to Fleet Information Warfare Center (FIWC) as the Network Officer. While at FIWC he was invited to join and redesignated to the newly created Information Professional Community.

Robert’s operational tours as an Information Professional include USS BATAAN (LHD 5) as the Assistant C5I Officer, Multi-National Security Transition Command as the director of Iraqi Security Forces Division, and Commander Carrier Strike Group Eight (CCSG-8) embarked on USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) as the N6A.

His shore assignments include Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic (SACLANT), Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Jacksonville as the executive officer, US Navy Cyber Forces as the Navy Space Readiness Officer and Information Professional/Information Systems Technician manpower manager and Cyber National Mission Force as the Deputy J3 and a National Mission Team lead. His last tour of duty was the US Navy Fleet Forces Command, Deputy N6.

His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (three), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four), the Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal (three), and various campaign and service awards.

He is married with three children.
