Profile

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Anthony was born in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 2000. Upon graduation, he attended The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of TBS, he reported to Basic Communications Officers Course, also in Quantico. After completion of training, he was ordered to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Assistant Information Systems Management Officer in the G-6.

In June 2002, LtCol Anthony was reassigned to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18 where he served as the Communications Data Platoon Commander and Assistant Operations Officer. During this period, he deployed with JTF 515 and supported numerous exercises throughout the Pacific theater.

In October 2004, LtCol Anthony reported to the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Command (now Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group) in Quantico to serve as an Operations Center Watch Officer and S-3 Training Officer. In August 2006, LtCol Anthony reported to the Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) as a student. Following EWS, he attended the U.S. Army’s Telecommunications System Engineering Course earning the U.S. Army’s FA-24 functional area designation.

In December 2007, LtCol Anthony reported to II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as a G-6 Plans Officer and Assistant G-6 Operations Officer. From January 2009 to January 2010, LtCol Anthony deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM with II MEF Forward as the G-6 Current Operations Officer and Marine Air Ground Task Force Communication Control Center Director. In July 2010, He reported to 8th Communication Battalion as the Charlie Company Commander and Operations Officer.

In August 2011, LtCol Anthony reported to the Marine Corps University’s Command and Staff College as a student. Upon graduation, he reported to EWS as a Faculty Advisor. Following this assignment and from July 2014 to June 2017, LtCol Anthony served at the Joint Special Operations Command in J6 Operations where he deployed twice.

In July 2017, LtCol Anthony was assigned as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6 for 1st Marine Logistics Group in Camp Pendleton, California. During this tour, he deployed as an Individual Augment in support of Operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT serving as the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan’s (CSTC-A) J6.

Upon redeployment, LtCol Anthony was in receipt of orders to Marine Forces Special Operations Command as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6 for which he reported in July 2020.

In July of 2022, LtCol Anthony began his most assignment as a Commandant of the Marine Corps Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Laboratory (MIT LL). In this role he served as a Military Liaison in the Cyber System Assessments Group.

LtCol Anthony is married to Amelia, also from Chicago, IL.
