Col Peter (STIX) Chiou, USAF

Profile

Colonel Chiou is a 25+ year veteran in the technology industry. He has led projects as architect and project managed over $700 million. Col Chiou is currently a reservist on full-time active-duty orders serving as the Chief of Integrated Warfighting Networks effort in the DAF/Chief Architect Office. He brings extensive experience and knowledge in networking, cloud computing, and cyberspace operations.

In his part-time reserve role, he is the IMA to Program Executive Office – Digital (AFRC). He has served as Deputy Commander of the 252d Cyber Operations Group (WA ANG), Commander of 143d Cyberspace Operations Squadron (WA ANG), Director of Operations of 262d Cyberspace Operations Squadron (WA ANG), and eight years active duty as an Air Battle Manager.

Before returning to active duty in 2020, Col Chiou served as a Microsoft Federal Principal Cloud Solutions Architect where he helped federal customers employ Azure to achieve digital transformation. He also led the network engineering team that built and operated the Microsoft Federal network for Office 365 and Azure-Gov. Before Microsoft, Col Chiou was employed at Cisco as enterprise Solutions Architect and other roles where he helped customers employ networking, voice & video, and optical technologies. He was Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) #7482.

Col Chiou holds a Bachelor's in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a Master’s in cyber security and leadership from University of Washington.

He is married with four children, speaks several languages, and is an avid kayaker in his personal life. In his "free" time, Col Chiou has also served on boards of several nonprofit organizations such as church, private school, and Seattle chapter founding president of the Control Systems Cyber Security Association International (CS2AI).
