Profile

Mr. Hidaka-Gordon currently serves as the Deputy Commander of 3d Network Battalion, Okinawa, Japan.

From 1987-1993, he served as an active duty U.S. Marine Field Radio Operator and Combat Correspondent. In 1993 Mr. Hidaka-Gordon began a civil service career and has served various organizations within the Department of Defense (DoD) including: DoD Education Activity (DoDEA), United States Marine Corp (USMC), U.S. Navy, and U.S. Naval Special Operations Command.

As an entrepreneur from 1996-2000, he successfully developed technology, systems and processes; envisioned and built trailblazing companies; and broke new ground in the field of media convergence and streaming technologies.

Returning to civil service in 2000 he rose through positions of increasing complexity and responsibility, leveraging his knowledge and experience with information technology, communications, and broadcasting. He managed numerous programs and projects that supported warfighters globally.

In 2005 Mr. Hidaka-Gordon was selected to the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) (AC/S G-6) at the USMC Western Recruiting Region/Recruit Depot and subsequently rose to the position of Regional CIO for USMC Installations Command West where he had ultimate IT services responsibility for all Marine Corps bases west of the Mississippi. Success in these roles building and leading large teams, and extensive experience in the IT infrastructure arena led to positions as Deputy CIO for Navy Special Operations supporting global military special operations, IT Director of DoDEA Pacific Schools governing technology for 50 schools in 3 countries, and CIO of Navy Installations Command (CNIC) encompassing all Navy installations worldwide.

Mr. Hidaka-Gordon concurrently served as a USMC reservist during much of his career and participated in numerous exercises and real world contingencies, including post 9/11 support, and exercises in Estonia, Thailand, Australia, and Japan. He has also served in uniform as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in San Diego, CA and Bremerton, WA.
