Description

Approved for 2 CompTIA CEUs: A+, Network+, Security+

Experimentation and analysis are important steps in the overall research and development process for network, middleware, and services development for military networks. Such experiments need to be conducted using realistic communications environments and scenarios. Field experimentation with hardware in the loop tends to be expensive and inaccessible to many researchers. While simulation-based experiments are a popular alternative, they are limited in terms of the radio models they offer, the scenarios available, and the inability to use actual systems. Emulation-based experimentation provides a good compromise, allowing systems and software components in the loop while also providing more realistic scenarios and radio models.    This panel will discuss different approaches to emulation-based experimentation, as well as military-realistic scenarios that have been developed as part of multiple NATO Research Task Groups (RTGs).
