Jere Miles is the Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations, New Orleans, LA. In his current assignment he has oversight of all Homeland Security Investigations offices within Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Prior to beginning his career as a Federal Criminal Investigator, SAC Miles served in the United States Army’s 82 Airborne Division, from 1984 until 1992, participating in Operation “Just Cause.” After his honorable discharge, he served as a Deputy Sheriff in South Carolina from 1993 – 1999, holding the positions of Patrol Deputy, Vice Detective and Resident Deputy Investigator.
He began his federal career in November 1999, with the U.S. Customs Service as an Air Enforcement Officer. In December 2000, he was converted to a Criminal Investigator and assigned to work in the U.S. Customs Service (USCS), Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Miami, FL. While assigned to the USCS SAC Miami, FL Special Agent (SA) Miles worked in an undercover money laundering group, where he served as an investigator and eventually the Program Manager.
During his Federal career SAC Miles has spent seven years overseas and held numerous leadership positions both in field offices and Homeland Security Investigations Headquarters.
