Michael Mosier is Deputy Director & Digital Innovation Officer of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the Treasury Department. As Deputy Director, he oversees FinCEN’s wide-ranging work to promote financial integrity and national security. As Digital Innovation Officer, he is dedicated to advancing FinCEN’s engagement with emerging technology and financial innovation.
Mr. Mosier returns from the cryptocurrency analytics, compliance, and investigations firm Chainalysis, where he was Chief Technical Counsel. He joined Chainalysis from FinCEN, where he was Chief of Strategic Advancement.
Previously, Mr. Mosier served as Associate Director at Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), where he led the Office of Sanctions Policy & Implementation and Office of Compliance & Enforcement.
Before joining Treasury, Mr. Mosier was Deputy Chief in the Department of Justice’s Money Laundering & Asset Recovery Section. He also served a tour at the White House National Security Council as Director for Transnational Organized Crime.
Mr. Mosier began his public service as a prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and has served as an adjunct law professor at Georgetown University Law Center. He previously worked at a law firm representing technology, media, and financial services clients.
