Profile

Mrs. Diane J. Sabatino was appointed Director, Field Operations of Miami and Tampa Field Offices (MFO and TFO) effective August 23, 2015. The MFO encompasses all inspectional operations at Miami International Airport, Miami Seaport, Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale International Airport, West Palm Beach/Fort Pierce, and Key West. The TFO encompasses the Area Ports of Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Mrs. Sabatino currently manages a combined MFO/TFO workforce of over 2,800 employees, protecting and serving the entire Florida peninsula, including more than 30 task force officers working with Other Government Agencies (OGA) and over 50 Tactical Terrorism Response Team (TTRT) and Counterterrorism Team (CTT) officers throughout the state of Florida. Mrs. Sabatino has also been designated as the Lead Field Coordinator for Incident Response for all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) resources for the eight states that make up FEMA Region IV as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) and all CBP resources in the Caribbean, comprised of approximately 6,500 personnel.

Prior to her current assignment, Mrs. Sabatino served as the Port Director for CBP at the Port of Miami. Mrs. Sabatino served in this position from September 2011; managing a complex operation covering all maritime cargo, agriculture, passenger, and trade operations at a busy maritime cargo port and the largest cruise passenger port in the country; and was the primary CBP liaison for all Port of Miami stakeholders. In March 2014, Mrs. Sabatino was honored by World Trade Center Miami at the International Women’s Day event as one of the community’s leaders who has made significant contributions in advancing international trade and business in Florida.

Prior to her appointment as the Port Director, Mrs. Sabatino was the Assistant Port Director, Passenger Operations, at Miami International Airport. In that capacity, Mrs. Sabatino managed a staff of over 900 personnel and was responsible for the oversight of all international passenger inspections and enforcement activities. Prior to her selection as the Assistant Port Director, Mrs. Sabatino served as the Border Security Coordinator for the Miami Field Office following a two (2) year assignment as a Field Liaison Officer, Office of Field Operations (OFO), in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Sabatino has twenty-two (22) years of federal service, beginning her career as an Immigration Inspector at John F. Kennedy International Airport. She advanced through the ranks, initially being promoted to management after just four years of service.

Mrs. Sabatino is a graduate of Fordham University, New York City, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a minor in Philosophy. Mrs. Sabatino is married and has one son and two stepsons.
