This session will discuss several biometric traits (face, iris, fingerprint) and the techniques used to extract salient information from them in order to represent an individual. Topics related to multi-modal biometrics, performance evaluation, securing biometric templates and privacy will also be briefly discussed. This introductory educational session is tailored to those new to biometrics and other identity technologies, and will focus on introducing basic biometrics concepts from primarily academic, but also government and business perspectives.  The format will be a hybrid lecture and extended Q&A.
