Profile

Maria Antonia (Toni) Roberts, FBI Laboratory Research Program Manager for Latent Fingerprints joined the FBI in 2003 as a physical scientist/forensic examiner. In her current role she oversees latent fingerprint research within the FBI Laboratory to increase the effectiveness of work operations and related programs. She provides expert advice on latent fingerprint matters and acts as a liaison with scientists, FBI field offices, outside law enforcement agencies, as well as the broader forensic science and Intelligence Communities. She has co-authored several latent fingerprint publications and has presented these nationally and internationally. The impact of her work has been far reaching affecting fingerprint examiner operational policies and testimony. She is a former member of the OSAC Friction Ridge Subcommittee, the Scientific Working Group on Friction Ridge Analysis Study and Technology (SWGFAST), and the NIJ/NIST Expert Working Group on Human Factors. She worked as staff on the National Commission on Forensic Science. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Baltimore, MD and a Master of Science degree in Cell Biology from Florida State University.
