Profile

Ignatius “Buck” Liberto has served as the Joint Force Headquarters–Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ-DODIN) Chief of Staff since February 2018. Serves as the principal advisor to Commander, and he is the staff integrator and synchronizer to support the Commander's decision-making requirements, and leads the development, management, prioritization, and synchronization of staff processes and efforts. Also he leads all coordination and approval of command policies, plans, orders, instructions, and procedures.

Mr. Liberto joined JFHQ-DODIN in April 2017, as the Chief of Training, Readiness, and Exercises for the J3, Operations Directorate. He led the Full Operational Capability (FOC) planning and assessments which supported the command’s FOC certification in January 2018, while maturing the operational processes necessary for sustained synchronized defensive cyberspace operations across the DoD Components.

Before joining JFHQ-DODIN, he was a Program Manager for Engility working US Navy programs, and was a Modeling and Simulations Test Director for the Phantom Works Team of Boeing’s Defense, Space, and Security business unit since 2006.

Mr. Liberto is a retired US Marine Corps Reserve Officer with 32 years of total service. Commissioned in 1984 from Tulane University, he served on active duty for 10 years leading Infantry platoons and Force Reconnaissance Detachments; leading Marines in multiple combat deployments. In 1994, he resigned his active commission and joined the US Marine Corps Reserve while working at the Joint Warfighting Center as a contractor. He was mobilized twice after 9/11.
