Profile

Colonel Cochran graduated with a Bachelors of Computer Engineering, Cum Laude honors and also earned AFROTC Distinguished Graduate honors. In 1998, he was selected to attend AFIT’s in-residence master’s degree program, studying two challenging areas: Information Warfare and Database Management Systems with a follow-on as an Advanced Prototype Systems Engineer assigned to the National Security Agency working on multi-level security computer systems. In 2001, Colonel Cochran was competitively selected to command the 48th Expeditionary Intelligence Squadron and San Vito Air Base, Italy supporting U-2s for NATO Operations JOINT FORGE/GUARDIAN. In 2002, he served as Commander, Communications and Information Flight, where he led a fully operational Network Control Center and Postal Service Center.
Colonel Cochran was chosen to be the USCENTCOM Chief of Staff Executive Officer in 2004 and completed his USCENTCOM tour in 2006 as the Commander and Deputy Commander Executive Communications Team Chief, leading 18 joint-service personnel spanning operations in 30+ countries. Following this tour, he attended Air Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS), both at Maxwell AFB, AL. His follow-on from SAASS was a command tour at the 341st Missile Wing, 341st Communications Squadron, Malmstrom AFB, MT. Upon completion of this command tour, he was assigned to the Air Staff as the Deputy, Warfighting Integration Strategy Division, Warfighter Systems Integration Directorate, Office of Chief, Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer working on a Decision Support Tool for USAF PPBE processes. In 2012, he was selected for a 1-year combat tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan leading 105 personnel and the 451st Expeditionary Communications Squadron supporting 120 combat aircraft performing close air support, ISR, and personnel recovery operations.
