Description

JCWA is a System-of-Systems (SoS) that provides an integrated suite of cyber capabilities and tools to the Cyber Mission Force to allow them to conduct offensive and defense cyber operations. The JCWA system collects, fuses, and processes cyber data and intelligence to provide cyber situational awareness and battle management at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels while also enabling access to a suite of cyber capabilities needed to train, rehearse, and then act in cyberspace.

USCYBERCOM is working to synchronize and integrate the JCWA suite of Cyberspace Warfighting Capabilities through an agile software development framework underpinned by a core of mission applications, shared services, data, and IT infrastructure. JCWA currently includes six foundational components and is adaptable, allowing for capabilities to be added or iterated based on joint mission needs, operating environments, and evolving threats and technologies.  JCWA’s primary objective is to provide capability for Cyber Operational Forces to effectively operate in the cyberspace domain and improve interoperability, reduce redundancy, increase functionality, develop the JCWA NextGen common platform, develop resilient capabilities, and provide the means to rapidly incorporate emerging technologies.

When established, Program Executive Office JCWA will illuminate cyber capability shortfalls and guide the acquisition of needed cyber warfighting capabilities. Encompassing the acquisition programs already established for its components, JCWA is in the initial stages of integration for its PEO. The historic efforts of Services have already developed, with specialized focus, many areas of JCWA; however, there is need for cohesion and interoperability. To enable this, PEO JCWA will focus the systems of today to enable both defensive and offensive cyber effects going. This will allow the Command to guide and prioritize the acquisition of future cyber warfighting capability needs.
