Courtney Johnson

Cybersecurity Director
Military Sealift Command

Profile

Ms. Johnson is the Cybersecurity Director at Military Sealift Command (MSC), working to secure, defend and preserve the integrity of MSC's cyber and communications infrastructure and the data residing on it by managing the risks of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

Prior to joining MSC, Ms. Johnson served as a government contractor, providing systems engineering and cybersecurity support to various agencies. Key assignments included systems engineering and enterprise risk management for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), systems integration and legacy network reduction for Navy Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM), and assessment and authorization of Platform/Operational IT systems at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Ms. Johnson transitioned to government service in 2012, remaining at NAVSEA until joining MSC in 2014. At MSC, she has held several other leadership positions within the Cybersecurity Directorate including Cyber Risk Management Branch Lead and Cyber Operations Branch Lead.

Ms. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, a Master's of Science in Information and Telecommunications Systems from Johns Hopkins University, and graduate certificate in Public Sector Leadership from Old Dominion University. Ms. Johnson also holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications.
