Colonel Reeder commands the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Global Field Command headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, IL with subordinate units located throughout the United States. The command is responsible for operating and defending the outer boundary, mid-tier Joint Readiness Security Stacks (JRSS), and the endpoint cyber defenses of the Department of Defense’s Information Network (DoDIN). DISA Global is also responsible for the DoD internet access points, email security, operating and defending the Big Data Platform known as Acropolis and the DoD’s G-Root infrastructure. DISA Global manages these missions with Orion, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) largest Cyberspace Operations Center.
COL Reeder is a native of Warsaw, Virginia and commissioned into the Army Signal Corps after graduating from James Madison University in 1999. COL Reeder’s initial assignment was in the 51st Signal Battalion (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a Platoon Leader and Battalion Logistics Officers (S4). He then transitioned to the 35th Signal Brigade (Airborne) headquarters as an Operations and Plans Officer deploying in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (2002). COL Reeder was subsequently assigned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska as a Squadron Communications Officer (S6) in the 4th Squadron, 14th U.S. Cavalry, 172d Stryker Brigade Combat Team, where he deployed in support Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (2005-2006). COL Reeder then commanded the 507th Signal Company, 59th Signal Battalion, and served as the Director of Information Management for Fort Wainwright.
Following command COL Reeder was assigned as a Deputy Communications Program Manager in the White House Military Office, managing communications and information technology programs supporting the Presidency. His next assignment was as the Operations Officer (S3), and later the Executive Officer, for the 53rd Signal Battalion (Satellite Control), 1st Space Brigade. He then joined the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), where he served as a Cyber Domain Chief in the Command Operations Center, Chief of the Cyberspace Warning and Operations Center, and finally as the lead Cyberspace Planner in the Joint Cyber Center. COL Reeder then moved to Vicenza, Italy where he served as the Joint and Coalition Network Division Chief with U.S. Army Africa/Southern European Task Force before assuming command of the 509th Signal Battalion, 2d Theater Signal Brigade. COL Reeder’s last assignment was as the Director of Infrastructures, Resourcing and Capability Development (J6/8/9) in the Cyber National Mission Force, Fort Meade, Maryland.
COL Reeder holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, and was a Senior Service College Fellow with the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland.
COL Reeder is married to the former Amanda Whetstone of Suffolk, VA. They have three children – Austin, Abigail and Jacob.
