Profile

TC John M. Williams II is a native of Orlando, Florida. He graduated from the United States Military Academy and was commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery officer in May 2004. Following graduation from ADA Officer Basic Course (SHORAD), his duty assignments included an Avenger Platoon Leader, Alpha Battery, 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at FT Hood, TX; a deployment to Iraq as C-RAM Sense and Warn Detachment commander; and Battery Commander of the C-RAM Training Battery, D/2-6 ADA in FT Bliss, TX. After serving as an assistant professor in the department of Chemistry & Life Sciences at the United State Military Academy, LTC Williams transitioned to into Army Acquisitions, serving as Assistant product manager for ground combat tactical trainers in PEO STRI, and Assistant Program Manager for Science and Technology Portfolio Integration at the CCDC Chemical Biological Center. LTC Williams is now the Field Assistance Science & Technology Director for DEVCOM-INDOPACIFIC, leading a team of experts in advising commands throughout the AOR.

LTC Williams has earned a Bachelor’s of Science in chemistry from the United States Military Academy, a Masters of Arts in leadership from the University of Texas El Paso, a Master’s of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D. in material science from Vanderbilt University. His academic research has included tissue engineering with human adipose derived stem cells, treating Malaria, and developing novel biohybrid photovoltaics. LTC Williams hold DAWIA Certification Level III in Program Management, and Level I in Engineering. He became a member of the Army Acquisition Corps in 2018. LTC Williams Military training includes ADA Officer Basic course, Patriot Transition course, Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff course, Acquisition Basic course, Acquisition Intermediate course, Combatives Level 1 Instructor course, Lean Six Sigma Black belt course, Joint Airspace Command and Control Course, Unit Movement officer course, and US Army Airborne School.

LTC Williams’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.

LTC Williams is married to the former Candace Norris and the couple has four children: Candace Nicole, who is 9, and John Michael III who is 8, Chrystal Naomi who is 5, and Jai Matthew who is 3.
