Profile
John Sahlin is the director of cyber solutions at General Dynamics Information Technology‘s defense division. He is a senior technology executive whose demonstrated expertise spans technical, program and business management.
Sahlin joined GDIT in January 2021. In his current role, he leads strategic planning, client engagement, solutions development for zero trust architecture, defensive cyber operations, vulnerability assessment, and the development of enterprise-class cybersecurity solutions for Department of Defense clients.
Sahlin concurrently works as an adjunct professor at George Washington University. During his over nine years of teaching at the institution, he has designed graduate-level systems engineering and cybersecurity courses. He currently teaches eight different courses in cybersecurity and information technology.
Before joining GDIT, Sahlin worked as the CTO of the Defense Group for Engility and was the CTO of two small defense contractors, ICI Services and Cabrillo Technologies.
For the greater part of his career spanning almost 30 years, Sahlin has balanced his corporate roles supporting commercial and public sector clients with various positions in the academia.
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he later earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in systems engineering from GWU.
