Join CompTIA’s Chief Certification Evangelist, Dr. James Stanger, and his partners in a 3-hour, live mini bootcamp that investigates the security and data analytics skills that make it possible to make great decisions in the field and ensure data dominance. This session will focus on security analytics skills that will help discover unique indicators of compromise and protect today’s data fabrics. James will be presenting with ZScaler’s Hansang Bae, Elastic’s Michael Young, and Think Data Solutions’ Robin Hunt to learn more about making great decisions in the field.

 You will learn about how to work with datasets to create actionable information that helps profile hacker activities and pivots. You will participate in hands-on security analytics exercises focusing on Security Onion, learn how to analyze traditional IT and Operational Technology (OT) services, and understand what their relationship to a “data fabric” and modern security best practices. These practices include zero trust architectures, which are increasingly becoming standard in the industry. The session will also include a panel that discusses the most important data and security skills needed today, including zero trust and data analytics.

Attendees will gain a clear understanding of:

  • Analytics and security best practices that fulfill the DoD five data directives;
  • The interplay between red and blue team skills;
  • Skills needed to bring security maturity to data and IT operations, including how to overcome the IT / OT disconnect;
  • The skills workers need to analyze any dataset – from packet captures to spreadsheets and databases;
  • Skills necessary to create and secure a data fabric, including zero trust best practices.
