Profile

Captain Ansel LeRoy Hills entered the Navy in 1989 with his first tour aboard the USS JOHN F KENNEDY.

In 1993, he reported to the USS THOMAS S GATES as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. In 1994, he went to the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center assuming duty as Combat Systems Course Supervisor. In 1996, he transferred to Surface Warfare Officer School then to the USS RAMAGE. In 2000, he reported to Commander Carrier Strike Group TWO on the USS HARRY S TRUMAN CSG.

In 2003, he reported to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON then to Commander Carrier Strike Group Eight as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics and Materiel and Battle Watch Captain in 2004. In 2007, he was selected for the Information Professional community. He transferred from CCSG-8 to the USS KEARSARGE as the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems and Information Officer.

In 2009, he reported to Commander Naval Network Warfare Centeras the CTF-1010 Command Ops Center Senior Watch Officer. In December, CDR Hills was hand selected to replace the Chief Staff Officer at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic. After completed this IP Command Equivalency tour of duty in October 2010, he returned to CNNWC assuming duties as the NAVNETWARCOM Division Director for NetOps-5 Plans/Policy/Exercises and was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Assigned to the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base July 2011 through May 2012, he completed his Masters in Strategic Studies and Joint Phased Military Education II. Following, he executed duties as the N6/C5I/CIO for COMMANDER CARRIER STRIKE GROUP TEN embarked in USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN-75).

In 2014, he reported to Commander, US Fleet Forces Command, completing his assignment as the Assistant Chief of Staff for N6/CIO. In 2017, he reported to Commander Carrier Strike Group Four as the ACOS for C5I and Information Warfare Syndicate Lead supporting combat certification of forces for C2F/USFFC.
