Face recognition is complex in general, with individual applications requiring many nuanced policy considerations. Unfortunately, most news articles and policy primers on the technology are based on misinformation about accuracy, bias, privacy, and surveillance. This session discusses some of the most common misconceptions so that legislators and policymakers can deliberate on their actions from an accurate footing.
