The Cyber Defense Review (CDR), the flagship journal of the Army Cyber Institute at the United States Military Academy, is proud to announce the publication of its 10th Anniversary Issue, celebrating a decade of advancing scholarship, professional dialogue, and strategic thought in cyber defense.
Since its founding in 2016, The Cyber Defense Review has become a leading interdisciplinary forum connecting military leaders, policymakers, researchers, industry experts, and practitioners. Published as a platinum open-access journal, the journal bridges the gap between academic research and operational practice by providing timely, rigorous, and accessible scholarship on the evolving cyber domain. Over its first decade, the journal published 400 articles across 11 volumes and 35 issues. A distinguishing feature of the journal is its Senior Leader Perspectives, which provide a unique forum for senior military leaders and government officials to share their vision, operational experience, and strategic insights with the broader cyber defense community.
To commemorate this milestone, the anniversary issue features 31 invited essays from distinguished cyber leaders representing government, the military, academia, and industry. Rather than simply reflecting on the past, the contributors examine the challenges and opportunities that will define the next decade of cyber defense, including AI, cyber campaigning, critical infrastructure resilience, workforce development, strategic competition, and whole-of-nation approaches to security. The issue also celebrates the remarkable community that has made the journal possible while looking ahead to the cyber challenges of the next decade.
The publication of the anniversary issue coincides with TechNet Augusta 2026, where The Cyber Defense Review will celebrate this milestone with conference attendees. Visitors are invited to stop by Booth K26, located directly in front of the plenary room, to receive a complimentary print copy of the 10th Anniversary Issue, meet members of the editorial team, and learn more about publication opportunities, upcoming special issues, and the journal's mission.
