Colonel Nicole E. Vinson currently serves as the J3 for the DoD Cyber Defense Command, formally known as Joint Forces Headquarters DODIN at Meade, Maryland. Prior to assuming this position, COL Vinson served as the G6 for the XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg.
COL Vinson’s other assignments include HQDA G-6 Strategic Initiatives Group Director, Joint Staff J7, Suffolk, VA; Commander, 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion; Network Division Chief, Joint Modernization Brigade; S3 and XO, 51st Signal Battalion; S-6, 3d Brigade, 82d Airborne Division, and multiple other assignments within the XVIII Airborne Corps and 35th Signal Brigade (Airborne). Prior to receiving her commission, COL Vinson served in the Army Reserves as a personnel management specialist. She has two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, two rotations to Europe as part of Saber Strike and Joint Warfighting Assessment as well as a tour in Korea.
COL Vinson received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where she received her commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. She has a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Maryland College, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
She is married to Oscar Vinson. They have one daughter, Alexei, currently attending Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.
