Description

Zero Trust represents a fundamental shift in how the United States protects its information systems. However, there are challenges in implementing Zero Trust on weapon systems such as real-time constraints, legacy architecture, and durability demands. Implementing Zero Trust in weapon systems requires innovation. Successful solutions must enhance security while preserving warfighter effectiveness and operational efficiency. This conversation will include representation from Program Executive Office Ground Combat Support (PEO GCS), industry, MITRE, and the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)), and focus on how programs can implement zero trust on non-traditional systems, like weapon systems. ASA(ALT) will provide an overview of their zero trust for weapon systems framework and solicit feedback from industry partners on implementing technical solutions. The discussion will conclude with a call for support on the focus areas identified and several additional tactical implementation challenges that the Army faces as it modernizes the force and becomes more lethal and survivable.
