AFCEA Preferred Provider Session: Attacking and Defending Mission Critical ICS Assets

Description

Industrial Control Systems (ICS) run the physical world. These environments used to run unnoticed. Now, they are a target. An understanding of the difference in ICS deployments between corporate environments is necessary to defend or attack them. This presentation will provide a brief overview of ICS environments, the Operational Technology (OT) resources that support them, and the reasons why ICS/OT deployments exist with known and easily exploitable vulnerabilities. The presentation will use known attacks from 2024 to help outline the attack and defense process. Attendees will be provided with a simple framework for thinking about these environments, enabling them to effectively improve defenses by understanding the attack paths that have successfully produced disruptions.
