Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Marlene Harshman served the United States Army from July 2000 to July 2024. For over 10 years, CSM(R) Harshman served as a Military Intelligence Professional in various locations and completed the Basic Signals Analysis Course (450), the Intermediate Signals Analysis Course (451), and the Joint Cyber Analysis Course earning the MOSs of 98K, 35S, and 35Q. In 2014, she was selected to join the Cyber Corps as a 17C to assist with the establishment of the Cyber Branch where she gained valuable insight and knowledge in Offensive Cyber Operations, Defensive Cyber Operations, Electronic Warfare, Information Advantage, and Expeditionary/Tactical Cyber employment. CSM(R) Harshman culminated her career as the first Command Sergeant Major of the 11th Cyber Battalion.
While on active duty, CSM(R) Harshman earned numerous awards for service and achievement while CONUS, OCONUS, and while deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. She was inducted into the Sergeant Audie Murphy Association and was recognized with the Gold and Silver Saint Isidore Army Cyber Awards due to contributions to the United Army Cyber Corps.
CSM(R) Harshman is married to Mr. Lon Harshman and together have five children (Kori, Alexander, Kaden, Dylan, and Kiley) and a granddaughter (Harley). She is currently an instructor for the Cyber Captains Career Course at the Cyber Center of Excellence’s Cyber School House on Fort Eisenhower, GA.
