Profile

Command Sergeant Major Kevin Foutz is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. Upon enlisting in the Army in September 2000, he attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, followed by Modern Standard Arabic Training at the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, California and advanced individual training at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. He was awarded the MOS 98C (now 35N), Signals Intelligence Analyst.

His assignments in order were with the 311th MI BN, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT), Fort Campbell, KY; Detachment Meade, Fort Meade, MD; 3rd Operational Support Group, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC. He has deployed four times to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and four times to Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

He served in a variety of leadership and technical positions to include TROJAN SPIRIT and Communications Control Set Operator, SIGINT Analyst, SIGINT Team Leader, Information Operations NCO, Electronic Warfare (EW) NCO, EW Assistant Team Leader, EW Section Chief, Squadron Operations Sergeant Major, EW Troop Sergeant Major, Mission Support Troop Sergeant Major, Intelligence Squadron Sergeant Major, and Joint Task Force J2 Sergeant Major.

CSM Foutz's military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Non-resident Class 42), and the Pre-Command Course. Other schools include Air Assault Course, Airborne Course, Static Line Jumpmaster Course, Military Freefall Course, Military Freefall Jumpmaster Course, multiple SERE courses, Combat Tactics Course, Joint Electronic Warfare Theater Operations Course, and Ranger School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management and Executive Leadership at Penn State.

CSM Foutz's awards and decorations are the Legion Of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal (4 stars), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (2 stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (all awards), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), NATO medal, Presidential Unit Citation (2OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (1OLC). He has earned the Army Ranger Tab, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, Military Freefall Jumpmaster Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), and Italian Military Freefall Parachutist Badge. CSM Foutz is a member of the winning team of the 2012 Best Ranger Competition and is a Legionnaire level member of the Order of St. Maurice.
