Major Phillip Amey is a graduate of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at Columbus State University where he received his commission as a Signal Officer.
His first assignment was with 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. MAJ Amey was assigned as the assistant Battalion S6 for 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment (FAR) from July- November 2012. MAJ Amey was then assigned as a Security Force Advise Assistance Team (SFAAT) S6 Advisor for Afghan Uniform Police, District Headquarter Team 1. In that assignment he deployed to the Kunar Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XI-XII from November 2012- July 2013. Upon redeployment, MAJ Amey served as the Executive Officer of HHB, 2-320th FAR from July 2013 – April 2014. MAJ Amey was then assigned as the Battalion S6 for 2nd Battalion, 32nd FAR until May 2016. He was next assigned as the Battalion S4 for 112th Signal Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne) from June 2017- October 2018.
Following his assignment as the BN S4, MAJ Amey served as the Force Modernization Officer from November 2018- March 2019. Next, he served as the A CO, 112th Signal BN (SO)(A) from April 2019- May 2020. MAJ Amey was then selected to serve as the Company Grade Career Manager, Signal Branch, HRC at Fort Knox, KY. MAJ Amey currently serves as the Capability Integration and Management, Branch Chief, for the Army Capability Manager, Tactical Radios.
MAJ Amey’s military education includes the Signal Basic Officer Leader Course, United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, Airborne School, Naval War College Intermediate Level Education, Static Line Jumpmaster Course, and the Sabalauski Air Assault School. MAJ Amey holds a B.B.A in Management Information Systems from Columbus State University. MAJ Amey holds a M.S. in System Engineering Management from the Naval Postgraduate School.
His awards and decorations include Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
MAJ Amey is a native of Luthersville, GA and is married to Chakarii Amey of Thomasville, Georgia. They have two children Braelyn and Brooke.
