Tyler Furches is from Mt. Pleasant, SC. He has had a deep interest in computers for most of his childhood and young adult life. He initially pursued a degree in Computer Science at The Citadel. Following a strenuous first semester, he decided to take his studies further and pursue a Cyber Operations major.
Tyler joined the Citadel DoD Cyber Institute (CDCI) during his sophomore year where he was able to attain an internship with the NSA at the Monterey Phoenix Program in Maryland, as well as a Scholarship for Service (SFS) contract. In summer 2024, Tyler attended the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command where he assisted with their Cybersecurity goals. These opportunities have allowed him to turn his interest from childhood into a deep passion and soon, a career. Tyler Furches plans to graduate from The Citadel in May 2025 and work for a federal agency.
