Mr. Colodney has been the Deputy to the Army Chief Information Security Officer/Deputy Director of Cyber Security for Headquarters, Department of the Army, since June 2022.
Prior thereto, he had hands-on management experience in cyber security in US and Combined (Republic of Korea/US) environments, along with the management of IT operations. He successfully led bilateral negotiations with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Joint Chiefs J6 regarding C4I requirements for the transfer of operational control to the Republic of Korea. Throughout negotiations, he remaining unwavering regarding US cyber security standards for connections to ROK systems and the operational requirements for secure communications between ROK/US forces throughout the Korean Theater of Operations. Past assignments included the Deputy CIO for the US European Command and an earlier tour in that capacity in US Forces Korea.
His career also includes having served as a Chief Information Officer (CIO) in large and small organizations, ranging from the CIO of a $2B healthcare system to the CIO of the 10th largest county in the US, as well as the CIO of a component of a federal agency. Additionally, he spent 30 years as an active-duty Army and Air Force officer, serving in the cannon field artillery and the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in the Army, and in the Air Force Medical Service Corps as a hospital administrator, culminating in retirement in 2011.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Purdue University, Master of Arts in Internal Relations from Boston University, Master of Business Administration from Indiana University, Juris Doctor from George Mason University, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University. He is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University.
