Justin Carney is currently a PhD student at Augusta University with a focus on identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), with a partnership with the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) to improve the security of medical devices. His current research and presentation, "An Analysis and Literature Review of Cyber-Physical Attacks on Building Enterprise Security," highlights the critical need for robust security measures in military facilities and weapon systems. Justin's practical experience in cybersecurity was honed during his tenure as a Student Assistant at Augusta University's Security Operations Center. Here, he provided real-time security monitoring using advanced tools such as Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel. His role was instrumental in safeguarding the university's network infrastructure against potential threats. Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Engineering from Augusta University and an Associate of Science in Information Technology from Georgia Military College. Justin's project portfolio includes the development of a Neo Pixel Lightsaber and an advanced microcontroller-based alarm system, showcasing his proficiency in electronics and embedded systems.
