CW5 David Lucy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1998. In 2000 he transferred to become a 31F Network Systems Operator-Maintainer and served two years with the 82nd Signal BN before moving to the 35th Signal BDE at Fort Bragg NC. In OCT 2004 SFC Lucy was accepted to the Warrant Officer Cohort and attended Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker Alabama. Upon graduation of the Warrant Officer Basic Course he was awarded MOS 250N Network Management Technician.
Chief Lucy has served as the Network Management Technician for both the 1BCT and 2BCT 10th MTN DIV Fort Drum NY from 2005 to 2009. From 2009 to 2012 he was assigned to the 2nd NATO Signal BN Naples Italy as the S3 Network Operations and Plans OIC. Following WOAC CW5 Lucy was assigned to the USAREUR G6 in Wiesbaden Germany as the Sr. Network Management Technician, while there he attended WOILE. In 2013 he was selected to serve as a Network Infrastructure Service Specialist for the Cyber National Mission Force. In 2015 CW5 Lucy transferred to the newly created 170A Cyber Warrant Officer MOS and stood up 3 of the 20 Cyber Protection Teams. After WOSSE he was chosen to serve as the Senior Technical Advisor for the Cyber Protection BDE from 2016 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020 Chief Lucy served as the Senior Warrant Officer for the Army’s Joint Force Headquarters-Cyber (JFHQ-C). From 2020 to 2022 he served as the Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) for the Cyber Protection BDE and. CW5 Lucy served as the Warrant Officer Division Chief for Cyber Proponent from 2022 to 2024, CCOE CCWO 2024 to 2025, and currently serves as the ARCYBER CCWO.
CW5 Lucy’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (1OLC), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC) and the Presidents 100 Tab. His deployments include OIF (5 tours) OEF (2 tours) and OUP Libya (1 tour). Chief Lucy holds a Master’s in Cybersecurity, a Master’s in Network Engineering and a Doctor of Science in Cyber Operations (DSC).
CW5 Lucy was born in El Paso Texas and has been married to fellow Texan Helen Lucy for the last 28 years.
CW5 Lucy’s hobbies and interests include shooting, chess, military history, networking lab, strategic games, tech manuals, and driving Helen insane.
