Mr. Robert L. Collins, III, has served as the Chief of the Officer Division for the Office Chief of Signal for the United States Army Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia since September 2020. Prior to his transition to civilian service, Mr. Collins served for 22 years as a Signal Officer retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel serving in a variety of staff and leadership positions ranging from platoon leader, Brigade Combat Team S6, to Expeditionary Signal Battalion Commander. His last active assignment was as the ACoS G3 and Chief of Staff for the 7th Signal Command (Theater) at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Over the course of Mr. Collins’ active duty career, he completed two overseas tours to Korea, one tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and one combat tour in Iraq. His stateside assignments include Fort Stewart, Georgia, Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Gilliam, Georgia, and Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Mr. Collins has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics from Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia and Master of Science in IT Project Management from Grantham University. He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and a certified Project Management Professional.
Mr. Collins’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (7th award), the Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), and the Army Achievement Medal (5th award). He is also a recipient of the Signal Regiment Bronze Order of Mercury and the ARCYBER Saint Isidore Cyber Award.
Mr. Collins and his wife of 20 years, Opal, live in Evans GA and are the proud parents of four children and two yorkies.
