Theron Spurgeon, a northern California native, earned a Reserve commission as an Infantry officer in 2000. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Science Degree in Cybersecurity Policy from the University of Maryland University College. His professional military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Intermediate Level Education and the Advanced Operations Course. Mr. Spurgeon is also enrolled in the US Army War College.

As an active Army Reservist, Mr. Spurgeon currently serves as the Commander of the 2nd Brigade, 98th Training Division (Initial Entry Training) at Fort Jackson, SC. His previous assignments include Mechanized Rifle Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion S4, 1-8 Infantry at Fort Carson, CO; S3 368th MI Battalion at Camp Parks, CA; Deputy J2, Joint Sustainment Command-Afghanistan; Detachment Commander, 2300 MI Group at Fort Belvoir, VA; Cyberspace Operations Planner, ARCYBER/JFHQ-C at Fort Gordon, GA; and Commander, Detachment 1, US European Command Army Reserve Element at Fort Gillem, GA; and Deputy Director for Joint Operations at the Joint Reserve Intelligence Support Element at Fort Gillem, GA. His deployments include to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Mr. Spurgeon began his Department of the Army Civilian service in 2017, as the Deputy Branch Chief Offensive Cyberspace Operations at Army Capability Manager (ACM) Cyber at Fort Gordon, GA. He currently serves as Deputy ACM Cyber at Fort Gordon, GA. Prior to entering federal government service, Mr. Spurgeon was a Store Manager for The Home Depot, as well as the owner/operator of a motor scooter dealership in Sacramento, CA.

Mr. Spurgeon is a graduate of Airborne School, Ranger School, the Basic Computer Network Operations Planner Course, the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System Course, and the Capabilities Development Course. His civilian awards include the Civilian Service Achievement Medal.

Mr. Spurgeon and his wife of 21 years, Rebekah live in Evans, GA and are the proud parents of two children
