Profile

Dr. Angela Landress currently serves as the Perimeter Security Devision Chief within DISA’s Cyber Development Directorate. She is responsible for providing a portfolio of capabilities that ensure the perimeter of the Defense Information Systems Network is secured and defended.

Before coming to the Cyber Development Directorate, Landress was the DISA J34 within the Joint Operations Center, leading the Defensive Cyberspace Operations Division. Landress directed the fusion and prioritization of threat analysis and mitigation of threats, managed DoD’s boundary defenses, and the defense of DISA’s internal systems in direct support of DISA’s critical mission to protect cyberspace for the Defense Information Systems Network, DISA’s Cyber Security Service Provider customers, and DISA’s own area of operations.

From 2018-2019, Landress managed the DoD-wide initiative to move internet browsing off the endpoint and into a secure cloud environment. She simultaneously led the acquistions, contract actions, and source selection team in awarding DISA’s first Other Transaction Agreements under Defense Information Technology Contract Agency’s authority, supporting the Cloud Based Internet Isolation prototype. From 2016-2018, Landress led the effort to implement and configure defenses into data centers across the globe as the Joint Regional Security Stack Implementation Manager. She has programmatically managed various successful multi-million dollar DISA programs.

Landress began her career in the field of education as a public school teacher in 2002. She evolved her teaching skillset to support the warfighter in 2014 by supporting DISA’s training initiatives across the Agency. She served in various training and leadership roles at DISA from 2014-2018. She also has over two decades of experience in educating various groups, including middle and high school students, college students, adult learners, government personnel, and military service members. She has published in multiple credible scholarly journals, such as IEEE, AMCIS, and ProQuest on the topics of training and resiliency, mindfulness and spillage, and machine learning techniques.

Landress is the recipient of various awards, including the 2015 and 2019 DISA Annual Awards for Technical Program of the Year. A native of Miami, FL, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Florida International University, in Miami, FL, a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Nova Southeastern University, in Ft Lauderdale, FL, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems, also from Nova Southeastern University.
