AFCEA International continues to closely follow developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). At this time of unprecedented global challenge and concern, the health and safety of our event participants, partners, volunteers, members, and staff are our highest priority.

After careful consideration, and in light of recent executive actions by federal, state, and local leaders, we are proceeding with TechNet Augusta as a hybrid event, to be held January 25-28, 2021.

The event program is shaping up with multiple confirmations from senior government leaders, including, but not limited to:

  • GEN Paul E. Funk, II, USA
Commanding General, U.S. Army Training & Doctrine Command
  • LTG Randy A. George, USA
    Commander, I Corps
  • MG Neil Hersey, USA
Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence & Fort Gordon

Additionally, the program will feature TechNet Augusta’s usual rich variety of breakout sessions and tracks, including many sessions qualified for continuing education in support of certification maintenance.

The venue will be reshaped, using lessons learned from successful in-person events the Augusta Marriott has held over the past few months. Doing so will fit proper health and safety standards and allow for the safest environment for all conference participants. More details will be coming soon on capacity limits and other initiatives that will change the venue from past TechNets. Information about the Marriott’s Commitment to Clean is available online.

In-person and virtual attendance options will be available when registration re-opens. If you have already registered, you will be contacted regarding your attendance plan.

There will be a mix of live on-site content, as well as virtual content presented online, over the event dates.

Exhibit space and sponsorship opportunities are being reworked to fit the changed floorplan. Exhibitors and sponsors will be contacted regarding options for the January event.

Housing reservations are ongoing. Book your room(s) now.

We look forward to your participation in TechNet Augusta in January, and we are confident that we will provide the experience that the AFCEA community expects and deserves in a safe environment.

If you have any questions, please refer to the event’s “Contact Us” page with specific contact information for registrants, exhibitors, or sponsors, or our Customer Service Center at (703) 631-6158, (800) 336-4583, or service@afcea.org.

The health, well-being, and safety of our visitors is—and has always been—our top priority. At this time, TechNet Augusta 2020 is scheduled to take place as planned, August 17-21, 2020.

AFCEA is actively and continuously monitoring the COVID-19 global pandemic in parallel with local, state and federal authorities and public health advice, including that of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

While the situation is changing rapidly, and we await guidance from local, state and federal authorities, as well as the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, items to promote safety being discussed include:

  • Alternative on-site registration options, such as layout, additional registration areas, remote badge delivery and more.
  • Health screenings upon arrival to the event.
  • Potential requirements of PPE, such as face coverings.
  • Reduced number of attendees in each session room, with remote attendance options within the facility.
  • Reduced number of attendees on the exhibit floor at any given time.
  • Potential reconfiguration of the exhibit hall to promote social distancing.
  • Elimination of handouts/giveaways at exhibits, to be replaced by electronic delivery of materials.
  • Adjusted traffic flows with the facility to discourage bottlenecks.
  • Re-engineered food and beverage options, promoting safety.
  • Potential hybrid/virtual options to enhance the event experience.

Enhanced cleaning protocols throughout the entire facility have been adopted by the Marriott. Learn more at https://clean.marriott.com/.

Additional cleaning standards will be implemented in the conference center and exhibit hall. Guidance, which is in development, will be shared with exhibitors in the weeks prior to the event.

Our promise to you is that we will continue to track this situation and follow all safety guidance from local, state and federal authorities, and we will provide regular and timely updates to help the community best prepare for TechNet Augusta 2020.

AFCEA events bring the community together and help facilitate meaningful relationships, which are more important than ever as the world meets the present and future challenges of this global crisis.

We welcome any suggestions or input you may have. If you have any questions, please refer to the event’s “Contact Us” page with specific contact information for registrants, exhibitors or sponsors, or our Customer Service Center at (703) 631-6158, (800) 336-4583, or service@afcea.org.
