Profile

With over 30 years in the Intelligence, SOF, and Cyber Communities as an Army officer, DoD civilian, and technology development consultant, Herm Hasken has become one of the most recognized tactical cyber and specialized ISR experts in his field. He is a decorated combat veteran, having earned two Bronze Star Medals while serving in a series of deployed Joint Special Operations Task Forces, and earning numerous other awards while deployed overseas conducting a multitude of special missions in support of national security interests. He concluded his uniformed military career in 2007 with Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) as the Command Representative to Director, NSA. He then spent a year as a defense contract consultant in Joint Forces Component Command – Network Warfare (JFCC-NW), the precursor to US Cyber Command. He started his DoD civilian career with US Special Operations Command as Director of the USSOCOM Cryptologic Office (SOCO) at NSA, working throughout the Inter Agency in search of leading edge SIGINT, EW, and Cyber technologies, partnering with industry and national labs to develop them. He later served as Special Assistant to the Director, DIA and a Senior Cyber Advisor at US Cyber Command and HQs, DIA.

Mr. Hasken earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Texas A&M University, his Master of Science in Information and Technology Management from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Arts in National Security Strategy and Policy from the US Naval War College. He has executive graduate certificates in Program Management and Contract Management from George Washington University’s Graduate School of Business. He interned at the National Security Agency, graduating from the Junior Officer Cryptologic Career Program (JOCCP) at Fort Meade, MD. He is also a graduate of the State Department’s National Senior Executive Leader’s Seminar, the Defense Intelligence Agency’s International Intelligence Officer’s Fellows Program, and SOCOM’s Executive Seminar in Counter Terrorism.

In 2016, Mr.Hasken became an independent cybersecurity consultant, initially providing support to the Presidential Transition Team staff on national cybersecurity strategy and policy. He is currently Partner and Vice President at MarkPoint Technologies, a small business innovator in the field of passive tactical cyber surveillance and EW support capabilities. MarkPoint’s cornerstone capability is the CEMA Tactical Awareness Support Kit (C-TASK).
