Profile

On October 26, 2018, Mr. Brendan Burke was selected to Senior Executive Service, having served in the appointed position of Acting Deputy Program Executive Officer, Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), on Fort Belvoir, Virginia, since May 2018.

On July 8, 2019, Mr. Burke was confirmed as the permanent Deputy PEO.

In this capacity, Mr. Burke is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of 36 program offices and 71 acquisition programs that support and field Army and Department of Defense communications, logistics, medical, finance, personnel, training and procurement systems for every domain, branch, unit and Soldier in the Army.

From October 2016 until his selection as Acting Deputy, Mr. Burke was the product manager for Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program at PEO EIS, where he was responsible for the lifecycle management of the Army’s continental United States Installation Campus Area Networks and Command Centers.

Mr. Burke also served as the product director for General Fund Enterprise Business System Increment II (GFEBS Inc II) and the project director for Computer Hardware Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) at PEO EIS. At GFEBS Inc II, he was responsible for establishing a team supporting the Army Acquisition Executive’s Material Development Decision of a Defense Business System. At CHESS, he was responsible for providing a flexible procurement strategy through which Army users procure IT hardware, software and services via the IT e-mart, the Army’s e-commerce site. Additional assignments at CHESS include the deputy project director and software product leader.

Mr. Burke began his civil service career as a contracting officer with U.S. Army Central Command Life Cycle Management Command. Prior to that, he was a Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force, serving in various positions within the contracting field.

Mr. Burke holds a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy from The Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Management, a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research and economics from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a recipient of the Superior Civilian Service Award and has twice been awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service.

Mr. Burke is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps with Level III certification in both program management and contracting.
