Colonel Jason Hester serves as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G5, Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), having assumed the position in July 2018. He serves in the 26Z career field, Information Network Engineer.
Hester received his commission as an Aviation officer from the United States Military Academy. His assignments include company level leadership and battalion staff positions as an aviator in the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) and 12th Aviation Brigade. He later transitioned into Functional Area 26B. His assignments as an Information Systems Engineer include Chief, Enterprise Services Branch, O/Dean, USMA; Division Automation Management Officer, 2nd Infantry Division; Deputy Director for Communications, SOJ6, Special Operations Command Pacific; Chief Information Officer, U.S. Army War College.
COL Hester holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science (USMA), M.S. in Computer Science (Univ. of Illinois), M.S. in Government Information Leadership with CIO Concentration (National Defense Univ.), and a Master of Strategic Studies (U.S. Army War College). His military education includes the DOD Chief Information Officer course, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, and the Army War College.
COL Hester’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Medal with numeral 3. His badges include the Senior Aviator Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
