Dr. Sharon Hamilton is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 27 years of active-duty service as a Military Intelligence officer, specializing in signals intelligence, tactical intelligence, strategic intelligence, and socio-cultural intelligence.
After retirement from the Army in September 2012, Sharon worked in the defense industry as a program manager and program director. In 2016, Dr. Hamilton served as the Hampton University William R. Harvey Leadership Institute Deputy Director. Since 2016, she has served as an adjunct Professor teaching online graduate leadership courses for The Citadel (a Senior Military College). From 2017-2020, she worked at the University of North Georgia (a SMC) as the Federal Liaison and Director, Military Programs. In 2018, she initiated the senior military college cyber consortium (SMC3) and helped lead the successful efforts for FY 2019 NDAA language and FY 2020 appropriations for the DOD Cyber Institutes. Since July 2020, Dr. Hamilton has worked for Norwich University (SMC) as the Associate Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships. In this role, she is responsible for collaborating with university, government, and industry partners and for directing the DoD SMC Cyber Institute pilot program and two NSA Cyber grant programs.
Sharon earned her B.S. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, a Master of Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. In 2016, she earned a Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change from Walden University. In addition, she has earned training certifications in electronic warfare, space operations, signals intelligence, classroom and online instruction, course development, intelligence analysis, and security operations.
Sharon’s military awards include the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. She also earned the Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge.
Dr. Hamilton has one son who serves as an active-duty Army Captain.
