COL Casimir “Casey” Carey serves as the Director of Intelligence, J-2, for Joint Forces Headquarters, Department of Defense Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN).
As Director, he is charged with cyber intelligence analysis, production, planning, collection management, and counterintelligence in our headquarters. His directorate produces intelligence products every day, oversees current intelligence operations in the JDOC, and contributes to our Cyber Tasking Cycle by fusing operational reporting with finished intelligence.
COL Casimir “Casey” Carey began his career as an Armor officer, leading a tank platoon in the 1990-1991 Gulf War, before transitioning to Military Intelligence branch in 1994. After serving as a battalion and brigade intelligence officer—as well as a company commander—in the 82nd Airborne Division, he completed graduate school and taught at the United States Military Academy from 2000-2003. COL Carey deployed as a brigade operations officer to Baghdad, Iraq before becoming the Iraq Branch Chief at US Central Command in 2007. He took command of the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion and deployed to Afghanistan, returning from Kandahar in 2011—after which he was a plans officer at US Army Forces Command. Following a Senior Service College Fellowship at Syracuse University, he was director of the Army’s Capabilities Development for Intelligence Sensors. Since 2016 he has served as Director of Intelligence, J2, at Joint Force Headquarters – DoD Information Networks.
