Senior Master Sergeant Quan J. Holmes is the Senior Enlisted Leader, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), J2 Intelligence Directorate headquartered at Fort Meade, Maryland. In this role, he serves as the principal military advisor to the HQ DISA Commander providing a senior enlisted perspective on all matters affecting over 250 Joint military, civilian and contractor personnel. He provides command oversight to Combatant Commands, DISA Field Offices, Cybersecurity Service Providers, and other Service Agencies on behalf of the DISA Director.
With over 21 years of active-duty military service, Senior Master Sergeant Holmes enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July 2002. He completed Computer Systems Operations Training in November of 2002 and has held various positions across computer maintenance and cyberspace support career fields. He completed retraining into the U.S. Air Force Recruiting special duty in September 2006, where he recruited 110 members into the Air Force. After returning to his career field for three years, he completed retraining as a DoD 8570 Security+ Instructor where he earned Master Instructor and yielded a 96% passing rate. He completed retraining as a Cyber Warfare Operator in May 2016 and was a foundational member of the Cyber Threat Hunting and Analysis Team at the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron. He has completed three deployments with Naval Special Warfare Unit 3 (2011), Joint Base Guantanamo Bay (2013), and U.S. Central Command Headquarters (2015). Additionally, he has held positions covering defensive cyberspace operations across the tactical and operational planning levels. Prior to his current assignment he was the Operations Superintendent at the 616th Air Force Information Warfare Operations Center at Sixteenth Air Force at Air Force Cyber Command, San Antonio, Texas and the Operations Superintendent for eight months at the 33rd Cyberspace Operations Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, Texas. Senior Master Sergeant Holmes holds a Masters in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for Senior Airman Below-the-Zone, Airman of the Quarter and Airman of the Year at the base level multiple times, Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter and Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year multiple times, Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter, Instructor of the Quarter multiple times, Recruiter of the Quarter multiple times, and earned the Humanitarian Award by the State of Mississippi.
