CAPT Ralph Stephens entered the U.S. Navy in August 1990 and attended basic training and Radioman “A” school in San Diego. During his early assignments as an enlisted Sailor, he served on board USS McClusky (FFG 41); Naval Computer Telecommunications Station Far East; Commander 7th Fleet embarked on USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19); and USS Kitty hawk (CV 63).
Stephens earned his commission through the Limited Duty Officer program in August 2002.
His additional fleet assignments include USS George Washington (CVN 73); Commander, Carrier Strike Group 5/Commander, Task Force 70 forward deployed embarked on USS Ronald Regan (CVN 76) and George Washington.
His shore assignments include Defense Academy of the United Kingdom (Personnel Exchange Program); Naval Computer Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific; Base Command Group Al Asad Air Base, Iraq (II MEF FWD); Navy Cyber Forces; Naval Network Warfare Command, Naval Information Forces; and Commander of Defense Information Systems Agency, Special Operations Command Field Office.
Stephens has a master’s in national security and strategic studies and a master’s in information technology management.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6) as well as several other personal unit and campaign awards.
