DoD KM Symposium: Applying GenAI to the KM Learning Process

The Implementation of a GenAI enabled assistant tool (Knavigator) enhanced personal knowledge and productivity, increasing KM students’ confidence during training, improving their competencies to perform tasks quickly and more effectively, and allowing them to learn more in the same amount of time. For this pilot, over 140 documents were ingested into the GenAI platform and implemented user stories and RAG workflows to address user inquiries in natural language. Prompt engineering was performed to manage various types of documents and questions. During this process, we demonstrated that students could use the assistant to find what they may have missed, to summarize specific information, ask questions about the course curriculum and doctrine and receive additional guidance on defining the logical flow of operations. Students could inquire about Courses of Action (CoA) requirements, enabling Knavigator to create alternative versions that provide differentiation.
