Profile

Sharon Woods serves as the director of the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA), EndPoint and Global Service Center, headquartered in Fort Meade, Maryland. Ms. Woods is responsible for the day-to-day operations of six centers supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, headquarters Department of the Army, and all other Department of Defense component offices within the national capital region.

Ms. Woods oversees all daily information technology operations and defenses, enterprise end user IT services for DISA, the Fourth Estate and classified programs to include National Senior Leader Communication capabilities while managing an infrastructure and portfolio valued over $1 billion. As director, she supervises a workforce of more than 3,000 meeting deputy Secretary of Defense directed consolidation, savings, organizational and cyberspace security requirements.
Prior to this role, Ms. Woods was a member of the Senior Executive Service and served as the Director for the DISA Hosting and Compute (HaC). In this role, Ms. Woods was responsible for overseeing DISA’s portfolio of hosting and compute capabilities with a focus on being the best value hybrid cloud provider. The HaC leverages industry best practices to drive towards unifying the hosting and compute platforms, being an trusted broker, and providing optionality for our customers.

Proceeding this, Ms. Woods served as the Executive Director for the Cloud Computing Program Office (CCPO), a team responsible for transforming cloud to enable the Warfighter by overseeing several cloud enabling projects and resolving enterprise cloud capability gaps in support of the Joint Force. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Woods oversaw deployment of the Commercial Virtual Remote environment, the largest Microsoft 365 tenant in the world. Before the CCPO, Ms. Woods was General Counsel for the Defense Digital Service where she provided legal counsel and bureaucracy hacking expertise for a team of federal government technologists working on high impact challenges at the Pentagon. Prior to joining DOD, she was an attorney for the U.S. Department of the Navy, specializing in information technology acquisitions.

Ms. Woods holds a law degree from the Washington College of Law, American University and a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. She has received numerous awards from the Defense and Acquisition communities in recognition of her leadership and accomplishments, including the Pinnacle Award for Cloud Government Executive of the Year (November 2020), the Department of the Navy SPAWAR Exemplary Achievement Award (November 2015), and the Meritorious Civilian Service Award (December 2013).
