David McCarthy is the Defensive Cyberspace Operations Chief in the Defense Information Systems Agency’s J3 Operations Directorate. In this position, he directs, synchronizes, coordinates, and integrates DISA cyberspace protection activities across the DODIN Area of Operation DISA to secure and defend the DISN boundary, the DISA Enterprise, and CSSP subscribers.
Prior to joining DISA, McCarthy was a DOD contractor providing cybersecurity expertise to the DISA Joint Operations Center. He is also a retired Army Signal Corps officer.
McCarthy received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and a master’s degree in telecommunications from the University of Colorado Boulder. He also holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Information Systems Security Management Professional certifications, as well as the Certified Ethical Hacker certificate
