Profile
Eric Mellott serves as a Senior Technical Strategist in the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Emerging Technology Directorate. In this Highly Qualified Expert (HQE) position, he focuses on next generation services and architectures to drive new capabilities and efficiencies.
Prior to his current role, Mellott spent over 20 years in the DOD technology environment and has been part of transformative initiatives that have changed how the DOD does computing. Major programs that he has supported on behalf of DISA include Perimeter Modernization, the Secure Cloud Computing Architecture, DOD Enterprise Email, Enterprise Active Directory, Joint Information Environment, GIG Convergence Master Plan, DOD DMZ and B2B Infrastructures, and DISA Data Center Design and Management.
For nine of those past years, Mellot was with Tapestry Technologies as the Chief Technical Officer. In his role as CTO, he was responsible for setting the technical direction of the company, creating strategic partnerships, and overseeing research and development tasks.
Prior to joining Tapestry, Mellott spent ten years supporting the DISA Computing Services Directorate as the contract lead for Netconn Solutions and then as CTO of the DISA Solutions Business Area for General Dynamics Information Technology, where he managed the technical direction of the business area and oversaw research and development initiatives.
Mellott has a Master of Science in Management Information Sciences from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification.
