Colonel John F. Moesner, IV, is the Chief, of the J-34 Fusion Division, Joint Force Headquarters Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ-DODIN) at Fort George G. Meade, MD. Here, his Division is responsible for identification, analysis, and mitigation of threats to the DoD Information technology (IT) enterprise.
Colonel Moesner began his career as an enlisted computer systems programming specialist and served four years as a prior service Airman. He was commissioned through the Air Force Officer Training School (OTS), Maxwell Air Force Base, AL in 1995. He is a career Cyberspace Warfare Officer with over 27 years of experience at various echelons to include Air Staff, joint, group, intermediate, and base levels.
His career highlights include two deployments; first in 2001 as the Commander, 48th Expeditionary Intelligence Squadron, at an austere location, providing forward-deployed intelligence collection during Kosovo operations. His second deployment was in 2009, as the Cyber Liaison Officer to CJ3 Information Operations, Multi-National Forces – Iraq, Camp Victory, Iraq. In 2004, Colonel Moesner was accepted into the Computer Network Operations Development Program (CNODP), a three-year technical development program sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA). Following, Colonel Moesner continued to serve at Ft. Meade as a Cyber Operations Planner at USCYBEROM and as the Commander, 7th Intelligence Squadron. Additionally, Colonel Moesner served as the Division Chief of the Combat Plans Division (CPD) within the 624th Operations and has twice been the Chief of the Cyber Effects Division on the HQ Air Force Staff.
