Art Friedman

Strategist for Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM)

Profile

Art Friedman recently joined DISA as their Strategist for Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM). He is responsible for advising DISA and DoD CIO leadership developing capabilities to support DoD’s ICAM Strategy. Additionally, he co-chairs the Committee for National Security Systems (CNSS) ICAM Working Group.
Prior to this role he was assigned to the National Security Agency managing the Vulnerabilities Equities Process (VEP) for the National Security Council. He has held various technical and managerial positions at NSA supporting the Nuclear Command and Control mission, the development of cyber tools and capabilities, and policy for Biometrics and Identity Management while assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Mr. Friedman retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Colonel. Prior to retiring from the Reserves in 2009, he held positions with the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare and the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations, USSTRATCOM.
He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a member of the (ISC)² Board of Directors, and an adjunct faculty member at Towson University. Additionally, he is a member of the AFCEA International Cyber Committee.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Hofstra University, a Master’s of Science in Business Administration from Boston University, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
