Jeffrey R. Jones

Executive Director
Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ-DODIN)


Mr. Jeff Jones assumed the role of Executive Director, Joint Force Headquarters–Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQDODIN), on 3 February 2019. In this position, he assists the Commander and Deputy Commander in providing command and
control of the execution of global DODIN and defensive cyberspace operations, as well as, synchronizing these efforts with US Cyber Command, Service Cyber Components, and Field Agencies.
Prior to joining JFHQ-DODIN, Mr. Jones served with Army Cyber Command on two separate occasions. From July 2016 to February 2019, he was the Chief of Staff for the Army Cyber Command’s Joint Force Headquarters – Cyber (JFHQ-C). In this role, he managed the daily operations of the JFHQ-C (Army), which is comprised of over 120 military, civilian, and contractor personnel providing SIGINT/Cyber support to assigned combatant commands and mission command of over 600 cyber mission force personnel. From May 2011 to July 2014, Mr. Jones served as Chief of Operational Capabilities and Requirements for Army Cyber Command. In this position, he established and led the Division charged with assessing, defining, articulating and advocating for cyberspace operational requirements to the Army and DoD in support of the Command’s mission to execute cyberspace operations.

Between his periods of service with the Army Cyber Command, Mr. Jones attended the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA from July 2014 – June 2015. Immediately afterwards, from June 2015 – July 2016, Mr. Jones served as the Cyber Test and Training Director at the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) in Orlando, Florida. He was the principal advisor to the Program Executive Officer on cyber strategy and operations related to test and training systems.

Mr. Jones is also an Army Reserve Officer and previously as the Chief of Staff for Special
Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve Forward element in Baghdad.

Mr. Jones holds a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the US Army War College, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from James Madison University, as well as, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. His civilian awards include three Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, two Superior Civilian Service Awards, the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service.
